New Music Tuesday - June 1, 2010

Well, again my family duties at home have made it impossible for me to complete a new song to post. I will be doing my best for July - keep thinking those good thoughts!

Thanks for hanging in there with me. Hope you find something you like here! - Pat C.

New Music Tuesday - May 4, 2010

Ok - I have to apologize, I didn't get any new music done for this month. I had some family illnesses that kept me very busy all month, so I couldn't get anything new recorded. We are still not out of the woods yet, but we are seeing improvement and have faith that a full recovery will come.

I hope to post some archive stuff this coming weekend, so at least there will be something you haven't heard yet. I'm also planning to collect some of these New Music posts into a new CD release.

Thanks for stopping by - I appreciate your interest. Talk to you later - PC

New Music Tuesday - April 6, 2010

I was hoping to get more stuff to you today, but I only finished 1 song. This song is a quiet, contemplative song - maybe something like you might hear in a cathedral somewhere. I wrote it over 30 years ago, but I just recorded it in the past 3 weeks. It is called "Blest Be The Lord".

I am working on some more fun, uptempo stuff for ya, I'll get it to you as soon as I can. Thanks for stopping by. - Pat C.

New Music Tuesday - March 2, 2010

This month's new music if called"I Will Wake Up". It was recorded with Don Peskach on Bass and Frank Gallagher on Drums. It was a cold day in a late December when we gathered at a small 8 channel studio in Brecksville Ohio, near Cleveland. I had just recently sold my
house and was leaving town in the next few days, and I wanted to get this song on tape. Since that time it has laid unheard until now.

I have a kinda fun memory about this song. Shortly after recording it I was in Mexico with a group of college age kids on an outreach trip. We were asked to sing a few songs at an 'American Football' game halftime show at the local college field. So at halftime all 30 or so of us marched out on the field. Someone brought a microphone and was holding it in front of me. And I started singing this song to bleachers full of students from the college attending the game. Just me with an acoustic guitar, a guy holding a mic in front of me and the rest of the group dancing around behind me. Looking back on it now I guess I had no lack of confidence.

I hope you all enjoy the song. Be sure to let someone know about the site, Thanks for stopping by! - Pat C.

New Music Tuesday - Feb. 2, 2010

Happy Groundhog Day! I have been like a groundhog for the past 2 days working on the mix for this new song, Epistle To Timothy. I've done some serious time on this, but I think it's worth it.

This song is based on Second Timothy from the New Testament. In it, Paul the apostle has a few parting words for Timothy. Paul tells Timothy "My time is almost run out, my mission is through." The words are almost word for word from a Bible translation I was reading at the time I wrote this song.

The basic tracks for this song were recorded in 1979 by me and a couple of friends, Frank Gallagher on Drums and Don Pleskach on Bass Guitar. I added a few things here lately, and finished the vocal 2 days ago. I have been mixing almost non-stop since then to get this up on the web before the end of the day, the first Tuesday of the month. Since I live in the Central U.S. my time is 1 hour behind eastern, so it's still Tuesday for me! I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for stopping by - PC

New Music Tuesday - Jan 5, 2010

Happy New Year ! (to the western world). I hope things went well for you over the holidays.

This month's song, "It's Your Love"  started out very different from how it has become. I first recorded the demo like I heard the song in my head. Then I played the demo for my wife. She was fairly unimpressed. She told me that it was just so repetitious that it caused her to lose interest! (After being married to me for so long - it is a wonder that anything about me can keep her interest).

Anyways... I decided to strip it down and start again. Then this new version began to take on a life of it's own. And I am pretty happy about the way it turned out. So that you can make your own decision I have included the original demo on the Members Only page.

Thanks for stopping in. And thanks for keeping in touch. This site has only been up since October, so I'm still learning about what to do - thanks for hanging in there and come back again! - Pat C.

So How Did Your Christmas Go?

We had a great time at home, but we missed our out of town family we couldn't be with. Last night I was thinking there was all sorts of stuff I wanted to tell you. Today, I'm at a loss for words.

I got some new software for making videos, so I'm gonna give that a try. I also got some wonderful headphones for mixing and listening to music. Listening to the music through the headphones makes it seem like the music just emanates from inside your head. Kind of like mainlining joy (not that I would know).

I also received the Beatles Rock Band video game for Christmas. I think it's gonna give me a new reason to play with the Wii.

Oh yeah, I'm already for the next New Music Tuesday... Just a few more days... - PC

New Music Tuesday - Dec. 1, 2009

Well - Better late than never!

I just got back home after a week away. We took a road trip to visit family and friends for Thanksgiving and we ended up driving over 2,000 miles by the time we got home. So that's my excuse for being so late today. To tell you the truth, I have been having a difficult time keeping track of the date - so there's another good excuse for being late.

Today I am putting up "The Only Way". I have tried recording this song about 3 times and I finally came up with a keeper this year. Best listened to on headphones, it has a dreamy quality to it. And it expresses something very precious to me -

"And if he died for me, I'll live for him. That's the Only Way."

I hope you enjoy it, and come back and listen again! Thanks - PC

New Music Tuesdays - Revisited

OK - From my seat inside my small upstairs studio nestled in the Mississippi delta I have come to the sobering conclusion that apparently I have overestimated my music producing capabilities.... "What's that?" you say?

Well, at the beginning of October I promised a new song every Tuesday. And after a few weeks of that, I have realized that I can't release a new song every week - at least not a new song that anyone would want to listen to  .

So I am forced to scale back my expectations. Here's my new plan... at least one new song the first Tuesday of every month. I am reasonably confident I can keep with that schedule, and I hope you come back and take a listen.

Head on over to the New Music Tuesday page to get this week's new song "Oh Maranatha"  - in the finest reggae tradition mon! - PC

New Music Tuesday Oct 27, 2009

The new song this week is "Deliver Me Lord" taken from Psalm 140. It rocks pretty hard if ya ask me. I could imagine David running through the woods away from an enemy with these words going through his head - "Deliver me Lord from wicked men, protect me from men of violence." I fear that the same prayer can be spoken today by many people. The next line says "Deliver me Lord from wicked men, protect me from men of war." Amen to that!

Go over to the New Music Tuesday page, listen to the clip if you like and then download the song if you want. And remember to check back next Tuesday. Thanks for listening! - PC

New Music Tuesday Oct 20, 2009

I have to admit I got a little bit ahead of myself and put some new music up last Thursday Oct. 15, but today is New Music Tuesday, so it's kind of like a two-fer for you.

Click on the New Music Tuesday page and you will find 2 new songs, "Whatever Is True" and "The Greatest Part".

Over on the Members Only page a new song went up last Friday, "Jesus Never Fails Me". It's easy to become a member, just sign up with your email address and choose a password. I promise I won't spam you ;) .

I know I have been putting up some softer stuff, but next week I think I will be putting up a real rocker!

Also, you can click download on the player to download either song, or both. See ya next week! - PC

New Music Tuesdays

So I've decided to try and institute a "New Music Tuesday". You know how all the new records and dvd movies come out on Tuesdays nowadays, I decided I will try to do that too.

Beginning next Tuesday October 20 I will be putting up a new song on the site (Lord willing!). Some of the songs will be material from a yet to be released CD, some of it will be demos or just foolin around. I hope you find something interesting enough to keep coming back! - PC

New Music Added

The remastered Dayspring album is up, and is available as a free download.

Added new music to the Back Pages page and the Members Only page.

New Site

There has been interest in the webosphere in Patric Calfee's "Jesus Music", and so I decided it was time to jump in and get a website up there. I have been scanning photos and remastering classic releases, as well as finishing up and recording new titles. They will all make their way here eventually. There is a blog on site and I will also be moderating a forum, so please come around and let me know what you think (I'm a big boy, I can take it ).

Free Downloads will be available from this site. If you want to get an actual CD you will be able to order those as well.

I hope you find something you like, let me know your ideas too. Thanks! - Pat C.
